Dr. Frankenstein's Lab

In 1931 Universal Studios released the movie “Frankenstein” starring Boris Karloff as the monster and Colin Clive as Henry Frankenstein. That film helped start a whole new genre in motion pictures – horror movies. The laboratory scene, where the monster is brought to life, is full of the electrical and mechanical creations of special effects genius, Kenneth Strickfaden. His prop creations were used in over 100 movies including Bride of Frankenstein, Werewolf of London and House of Dracula, The Wizard of Oz, Young Frankenstein and The Terminator. The laboratory of the mad scientist is a theme we’ve seen many times at the movies and most of them owe their inspiration to Dr. Frankenstein and Kenneth Strickfaden.

Our goal at i-Zombie Productions is to create laboratory props that are reminiscent of that era when the early horror movies were filmed. The cabinets, dials, gauges, knife switches and other parts used in the construction of our props are authentic antiques. Those parts, coupled with LED lighting and modern electrical components, help us to build safe, long lasting props that look as if they were used in Dr. Frankenstein’s lab a hundred years ago.

Take a look in our gallery for pictures of lab props we have made for other clients to see if you would like one built for you. Have an idea you want for your lab? We would be happy to work with you on a custom creation!
